Lovely photo essay, Nick. We enjoy the playful colors you find in the Med, the Caribbean, and places like Mexico where we are going. One reason we're tarting up our boat with colors like lime, apricot, chartreuse....I think color makes cold places feel warmer and warm places feel cooler, too. The Ballad's interior (Khaya, or African mahogany most of it) is pretty enuf but way too dark and 'libraryish' for our tastes & for a warm climate. So we're shifting it to the Herreschoff aesthetic of off-white paint with mahogany accents, and the difference is gratifying.
Is that header on the main bulkhead original in dimension, or have you cut it down? Ours was a real headbanger until I sprang a couple arches in it.

Hi Bob:
The header is original.
I like the Herreschoff look too. Also, the Dutch use off-white with teak or mahogany trim a lot on their boats.
I've done the same on Moments of Clarity, particularly in the revamped galley, chart table and dinette.
That, along with a few colourful cushions and a nice carpet brighten the interior considerably.
