Re: Placement of VHF, stereo, battery monitor and navtex?
Doesn't look dull at all Mads! Seems like you are making good progress :) I wish I could say the same - too much work again and equipping our RJ85 as she is planned for launching on May 4. This is how we had the setup in Sanlen earlier. Not so tidy  The VHF was mounted hanging below deck to th...

Re: #332 restoration (ongoing)
I'm a bit concerned that I have made my holding tank to small (it's about 25L if my math is correct). On the other hand it's almost always only going to be me onboard and I don't plan on staying in one place for extended periods of time. I think you'll be fine with 25L. My experience is that you ne...

Re: #332 restoration (ongoing)
I'm basically done with the forward half of the boat :) I do however still need to build a holding tank. The biggest problem right now is finding PVC "pluming" pipes and fittings. I'm having a hard time finding anything that will allow me to connect my 38 mm hose to the holding tank. Look...

Re: Speaker placement (in cabin)
Very nice Just like I want to do except with the worktops - I plan changing them to white.TamTam wrote:We replaced our sliding doors with coloured acryl. It looks nice and kind of modern:-)
Because of the mirror effect, the kitchen area looks bigger.

Re: Speaker placement (in cabin)
How is the painting/varnishing coming along? :) Looking forward to seeing more pictures :) Lots of ideas coming up all the time. Newest are to replace all sliding doors with smoke-coloured acrylic and glue teak/coto veneer on the steps and top step/hatch. :D I had to move outside because too much d...

Re: Speaker placement (in cabin)
I placed 5.25" speakers in the small bulkheads above the shelf. Those fusions are 6" but should fit without problem.

Re: Volvo penta exhaust elbow (MD6A) out of production - hel
Hi Mads,
I had a MD6A in Sanlen before I installed a Nanni. It had a stainless exhaust elbow from UbiTrade.
You can also try Davids Mekaniska Verkstad in Gothenburg, they sell used VP parts.

Re: White bulkheads?
Clogging hasn't been the issue - the darn varnish is so hard it's almost like glass  I wonder what Albin have used (or maybe some previous owner). I want to remove all varnish from the bulkheads before painting them white to assure proper adhesion. On all solid mahogany I use this scraper befo...

Re: Mast step truss, inevitably:(
You shall have to change the name of the RJ-85 to Polymer . We also own a Buccaneer18 racing dinghy, sadly neglected. Together they are Grannia, Diarmuid , and Fionn . It's nice to have the entire love triangle, but three sailboats is one too many. Great names! Monomer is the original name fr...

Re: White bulkheads?
Quick update: Making some progress. I have now sanded all pieces that will be reused in either way - varnishing or painting white. The old "varnish" was really tough, I used 40 - 80 grit paper and it still resisted sanding  House is occupied with bits and parts :D Next step is makin...
