Re: Mast specification
Thanks Bob, hope you are well! My running rigging had already been done and replaced with non HMPE rope before I got her... I may well replace the main halyward with Dyneema or the like... depends if funds stretch!! (not the rope) I am replacing with solid composite sheaves I think, measured all min...

Mast specification
Hello all, Triola is due back in the drink in a few weeks, so mast servicing time. Does anyone know if this is the original mast? Looks to be a Selden rig? The sheaves all need replacing with something modern as they are a nightmare to pull up. http://i.imgur.com/DMVqybgl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/xDWL...

Re: Sprayhood
I had one made off the peg by CJ Marine, and the process was pretty imperfect, but the result is cracking. The trouble with the Vega marine one is that the frame is not stainless but aluminium so not as robust.

Worth dropping Vega Marine an email too - they were very helpful last time I did. Failing that, yup, looks like a good winter craft job!

Re: question about rudder
I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have that...? I've just trawled through my many, many photos of Triola and can't find one of her rudder - I'll take one next time I am down on the weekend!

Re: Mast step truss, inevitably:(
Yeah I didn't really squeegie it very hard, I did have a half hearted attempt :), however I go pretty crazy with the consolidation roller. Humm, I didn't put any further coats on and left mine as epoxy, I figured epoxy is pretty 'water proof' (we all know no epoxy IS actually water 'proof', but for ...

Re: Mast step truss, inevitably:(
Nice work Bob, did you use peel ply on top to remove the amine blush and create a key for your secondary bonding? Or do you use a non blushing epoxy? Below is my offering. I thickened the base with 404 high density filler to get into all those little air bubbles in the first port of polyester and to...

Locker lids!
As suggested by Bob, I have started a separate thread re my embattled locker lids. I stripped the varnish off with heat and a scraper and set about trying to remove the black bits with oxalic acid, this failed, so I moved on to bleach, and finally I tried mould killer. None of the above really worke...
