Re: question about rudder

What ho Bob, Peter Can you explain the process of getting your rudder off? Next winter I'm looking at dropping the rudder off, cutting it in half, repacking it and sealing it (currently full of water  ) and replacing that bearing. How did you drop the stock out? Does it lift up far enough to dr...

Re: Better Fuel Tank?

Does it happen more on one tack or another if motor sailing? I'd have a look at the fuel intake and make sure it is low enough down in the tank so it is drawing fuel out of the very bottom of the tank. Is it all the original tank fittings or did you replace in your great rebuild? The very worst time...

Re: Better Fuel Tank?

Does the problem go away once you have bled the system again on the engine (until the next time)? What primary fuel filter have you got? Possibly a problem with that? I've been in some really rough stuff, at alarming angles, with the standard tank less than half full... and my 2GM20 (not F!) has bee...

Re: Propeller shaft truss - Albin Ballad

Can you take some photos? Do you mean the P bracket that the shaft travels through just before the prop? This bit?

Image

Or do you mean the stern tube that the stern gland suckers onto?

Re: Better Fuel Tank?

Another thing to watch out for if it IS air and you can confirm this by bleeding that air back out again, is to replace the fuel lines. If they are old and brittle, the smallest of microscopic crack will introduce air into the line. May be worth replacing them as a matter of course if they are old...?

Re: Mast step truss, inevitably:(

Indeed, I only wish mine had come up as clean as yours then I wouldn't have missed a season sailing :). The peace of mind is worth those holes, as the wise Bob suggests, time to go sailing. As for the transverse beam, I've left mine in, however Shebeen replaced hers. I documented it here: http://www...

Re: Bulkhead & Construction

I think I am going to go with loctite blue rather than nylock nuts and use penny washers on either side to spread the load: http://sds.loctite.com/us/content_data/166733_LT4985_Threadlocking_Guide_032010_Web.pdf I've top hatted the top section of the main bulkhead on both sides, I havn't got to the ...
