Re: Mast step truss, inevitably:(

Gutting one sailboat is much less stressful when you have another one you can play with. I totally agree. Only stress comes from my beloved wife now that I have occupied 3  rooms in our house with boat parts. Actually, we have two more boats 8-) IMG_3450.jpg P7141079.jpg (Excuse the offtopic)

Decision made - drilling holes and pouring resin if I didn't manage to fill the area completely earlier - thanks for the tip :)

Re: Mast step truss, inevitably:(

OMG  Now that makes me really worried about Sanlens mast step truss. From what i remember when reinforcing the hull/keel/cabin floor some 20 years ago there were slight signs of rust colored water coming from the area beneath the mast step. I thought it was only the steel plate backing the ma...

Re: Hump in the floor

When I reinforced Sanlens keel construction some 20 years ago she showed signs of the same hump, although not that much as on your ballad. My plan at the time was also to rip out the floor pan but since I wasn't able to remove the mast step I decided to do all the work through the existing openings....

Re: White bulkheads?

yup :) As you can see not a lot of the bolts are visible. That being said the right (thorough) thing to do is properly something along the lines of what Peter and Bob are describing ;) https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Na3isUJmX8o/UpIFqHFRBVI/AAAAAAAAEAk/nr09qAQxXB0/w816-h612-no/IMG_0262.JPG Looks...

Re: White bulkheads?

I'll probably try the overdrill/fill with epoxy method. Bob's idea with compression bushings is also great, probably the correct way to go if the bulkheads were mounted flat to the tabbing. On Sanlen the bulkheads are mounted with some filler and/or wooden wedges against the tabbing :? I have the sa...

Re: White bulkheads?

We have now decided to paint all transverse bulkheads in white, the same combination with satin-varnished trim as on Mads pictures ;) . We think it looks great and will make the cabin brighter. Since the plywood is in good shape we are reusing the bulkheads, sanding out and filling old marks and hol...

Re: New vinyl liner

I plan on using the exact same foam-backed vinyl liner although it is a bit expensive (180 DKK pr meter in Denmark). The price is roughly the same in the UK. How expensive is it in Sweden? The prices I have seen so far are in the same area. I'm considering using a combination of a cheap 6 mm closed...

Re: Edging around stowage openings

Here are some (relatively) easy methods of trimming out an opening. 'Easy' compared to making radiused corner channel! Many solutions; which one I chose would depend on time and tools availability.:) Now you really gave me a headache  Great drawings, I'll keep them for upcoming projects :D Ree...

New vinyl liner

It's time to replace the old foam-backed vinyl liner. I have noticed that some just paint the inside of the hull but we really need some kind of isolation - the summer season in Scandinavia is short so we sail even when it's cold and use the heater. We are looking at something like below - 3mm thick...
