Re: Mast step truss, inevitably:(
Hopefully that's some good news then, its worth grinding back the gel coat to find good grp and make sure the crack doesn't extend further in, if then all is good, seal it all up with West System and move on :) I'm always concerned when the tops of these truss's have foam as opposed to hard resin. I...

Re: Deck colour!
Sooo, the time has come! Deck painting time... probably... I may still cop out. I have a month out of the water to get it done any may take some days a week off to break the back of the job (if it doesn't break my bank balance first...). I'll put up a tent around the boat first.... The steps I have ...

Re: Mast step truss, inevitably:(
Curious. On the later Ballads they fully encapsulated the truss meaning the top two inches that could collapse on the older Ballads was no longer a problem. If I was going long distance cruising I would feel the need to investigate that crack by opening it up. I have a keel crack repair guide on my ...

Re: Depth/Speed transducer location questions.
Hello Peter, Good to hear from you! My log is mounted here, offset from the V: http://www.albinballad.co.uk/how-tos/fit-nasa-log-skin-fitting-safely/ My depth transducer is mounted inside the hull, along the center-line, without any through hull. The B and G instructions show it set offset, and if y...

Re: Mast step truss, inevitably:(
Hello Krystindee! Congratulations on your purchase, they are great boats that won't let you down. Practical Boat Owner published my article on the mast truss and repairs. The Keel crack is in PBO 598 (April 2016), the full mast truss repair is in PBO 608 (January 2017), the current issue! http://www...

Re: Show me your outhaul
What ho Tom, My main is loose footed with slab reefing. The outhaul comes out of the boom next to the reefing winches (one either side of the boom), and I use that winch to tension it up (or loosen it) as required. I'll grab some photos when down over the weekend. Hope you are enjoying your Ballad! ...

Re: Mast step truss, inevitably:(
That's not original I would suggest. Looks like that has been done already which is great news! I would go sailing and not give it a second thought. Always try and keep that part of the bilge as dry as you can (flipping water runs down my old Seldon mast, which kippers me somewhat). Do I see the dra...

Congratulations - as I said before, you'll never look back! Any more photos of her? Where abouts will you sail her from?
