Re: Traveller Car
Thanks for the replies. I won't try to "fix" it in case it's not broken! I'll see how it works when I get the rig up next year.

Re: New Ballad owner
My thoughts, when I bought my Vega, were to sail her as she was for about a year. Luckily there were no previous "improvements" to worry about, and being #1331 of over 3400 built, I figured that the builders must have known what they were doing by then. The only exception was the roller re...

Traveller Car
Hi, My traveller car has 2 cam cleats on it that are bent up at an angle. Is this the way they are supposed to be? Seems a bit odd as the angle of the line does not run through the pulley too well. Maybe someone bent them by pulling too hard? Anyway, here is a picture of what I found: http://www3.te...

Re: Mast Wedges
The Ballad mast base has quite a bit of leeway for adjustment, with 7 different options (the front 2 holes are not useable, being too close to the bulkhead). http://www3.telus.net/sailing/maststep.jpg http://www3.telus.net/sailing/mastbase.jpg A quick calculation shows a theoretical range of about 1...

Re: Any proposals on changes are welcome...
I think it would be great to have all available Ballad-related material on one site, regardless of what language it's in. With the Internet's translation abilities a difference of language is no longer a barrier to communication. On the German Ballad site, and others, I've found a lot of useful info...

Re: New Ballad owner
Bob, I hope your new boat weathers the storm OK! The fuel tank is stainless steel and mine was easy to remove from the starboard cockpit locker. I'm going with all sail controls at the mast, for now, but may lead some of them aft later if needed. My San Juan 24 had all lines led aft and the cockpit ...

Re: New Ballad owner
Bob, Your boat is a beauty ... what a score! It looks like an earlier model, with the gold-colored Proctor mast and the aft-facing nav station. Do you know the hull number? To answer your questions: Fuel tank: We kept the original tank and had it cleaned at a radiator shop, also pressure tested for ...

I guess that now makes me the second newest member, so I can say "Welcome, Bob"! I look forward to seeing some "before" photos, as well as pictures of restoration progress.
Cheers!

Re: Mast Wedges
Thanks for the pictures, Bram. I'm going to take a good look at Spartite which seems like a good solution. If I understand the literature correctly it stays adhered to the mast and can be used over and over again. I wonder if it's flexible enough to adjust mast rake? And it still requires a waterpro...

Mast Wedges
Trying to think ahead to launching day, I've been Googling mast wedges. There seem to be many ways to do this, and I was wondering if any Ballad sailors have any advice or words of wisdom on the subject, and also what type of boot is used to make the thing water tight.
Thanks!
