Re: Dynastart - boiling battery

No, the AC generator that is fitted to the engine. I'm not sure if the ac generator is standard on all Ballads with MD6A, but mine has one. I'ts mounted in the top right corner of the engine, when viewed from the front. See this picture for reference. You see three belts in total. Two belts go to th...

Re: Hatch cover fix or replacement

Great work! Did the thickness of the acrylic fit for the companionway hatches or did you add some spacers? My hatches need to be replaced soon as they have a lot of ugly cracks. There is some spacing attached to them now and I would like to skip those since they are prone to break if not handled car...

Re: Dynastart - boiling battery

Hello again... Thank you Peter! I've tried to modify the installation to match the suggested changes, but with a "separation relay" (Skiljerelä in swedish). But while trying to do the suggested fix I became more and more confused. :? Somehow I, or the previous owner, had mixed to two posit...

Dynastart - boiling battery

Hi Ever since we bought our Ballad, last year, there have been a bad smell when we're using the engine. Actually I hadn't made the connection about "when we're using the engine" until yesterday. We've always thought the smell came from the holding tank. So during the winter and spring I to...

Re: Mast step truss, inevitably:(

IMG_8578.JPG Hi again I've been investiggating the mast step a little further while fixing other things. Earlier I posted pictures about the suspicilly new bolts in the frontmost compartment and the stripped paint. Today I removed the small "plank" (?) just in front of the mast step. My j...

Re: Mast step truss, inevitably:(

Hi Interesting approach Nicholas =) I shouldn't do it unless I were pretty sure that the mast trust isn't in such a bad shape that we have seen on some pictures. A thought: Is there any evidence that "all" Ballads has the same mast trust solution? I mean, can it be that Ballads with hull n...

Re: I've just bought a Ballad as well!

Hi I just (last weekend, 17th sept. 2016) bought a blue Ballad nmbr 211. Nice pictures but I'm guessing that the turned nav-table are not original? I haven't had the time to go out for a sail yet but we made some short trips using the engine only. Works great even if its the original MD6A-engine. Na...

Re: Mast step truss, inevitably:(

Hi Thanks, sounds good! I'm going to lift the boat out of the water next weekend (1 oct) so then I can check on the keel. About the "blocking" of the drain hole. Actually the thing you see in this picture is removable. It was just some dirt which I removed after taking the picture. ALTHOUG...
