Finally took most of last summer off work to push along Ballad #18, Fionn. I still need to add a few pieces of deck hardware, but it is mostly complete.

Of course I ran out of one component of the non-skid paint mix, so the hatch covers are a little darker than the rest. The whole cockpit needs one more coat anyhow.

Very nice looking deck, looks great!

I am considering buying a 1973 Ballad located in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. It has gone through extensive refitting. My main concern is the soft crunchy deck. Did you have this condition and did you repair it? How critical is it that the two FRP skins are bounded together. If the skins are not bounded together it is not a stress-skin panel.
I noticed in an earlier post of yours that you describe the deck core as poured foam and marginally attached to skins. Others have described the core as Dininycell, which I assumed is flat panel PVC foam.
