Re: Water Tank

Update on the water tank. I am moving the location of my water storage to under the fore end of the starboard main cabin berth to get weight out of the bow. I have a lot of ground tackle to locate at the aft end and under the vee berth. Looks like I will just try on of those Vetus flexible tanks for...

Re: Boom for Larger Main

Bob, I somehow missed your post until just now. I bought a 12'9" boom with a gooseneck. Looks like I can fit it up no problem. Here is the latest, 492 ft with no overlap of the mast. The left is as is, the right as planned: Albin Ballad Sail Plan Update 2018-8-12-Model.pdf This plan allowed me ...

Re: Where do you put your batteries?

I have moved my 4 X 105 AH batteries to a new location under the aft end of the main salon berths, two on each side, still electrically tied to a single bank. I can add up to six more (three more to each side) if I need them. It cost me the four drawers but it helps get the weight out of the bow sin...

I am trying to get the light air on the wind performance up, not for racing but to be able to sail in lighter air. Any thoughts on the performance impact would be appreciated.

Boom for Larger Main

Hello ALL, Please forgive me in advance for ruining the look of my Ballad. I would like to add a swim platform with a permanent folding ladder, a location for an outboard, and update the sail plan to 508 ft^2(47 m^2) See attached low res screen shot. To keep the CE in the same place, it looks like i...

Re: Rudder axial load

Peter, Perfect. That is what I was looking for. Yes sir I can lift it completely up to remove the gap. I pulled the rudder yesterday and drained the rest of the water from it and will start sealing up both the skeg & rudder. The shoulder of the bottom bushing is worn completely away and looks li...

Re: Rudder axial load

Peter. Thank you. This is excellent information. I have a about a 9/16th" gap (14mm) between the top of the rudder to the skeg, (see attached). In the pictures you shared it looks like you have significantly less. Can you tell me what I should shoot for as far as a gap and where I should add sh...
