Re: Barber hauler

I have so far found the standard sheeting arrangement to work reasonably well.

I find one useful for the Spinnaker, to hold down the sheet/guy to steady the sail.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on.

Soolaimon's Holiday

Hi All, I'm planning a bit of a trip out this summer, without making too many plans. Carrying a lot of charts, but the aim is to get down to the Algarve for a few weeks, then decide where next. My other half has booked flights there for late July so it would be nice to be there. It's intended to see...

Re: Where do you put your batteries?

I shall be making a start on a new battery box this week I think. I have now 2 x 100ah, and 1 x 85ah to re house. Depending how much room there is I may leave the 85ah where it is. I run a Waeco cool box, eber type heating, and had a tiller pilot on for quite a few hours this weekend. The single bat...

Re: Must visit more often!

It does feel a little under used. Facebook groups seem to have taken over. Not much good if you don't like fb. It doesn't look too bad a job to alter a sail, I have thought before about making an adaptor, make a thin piece of sail with eyelets in for your hanks. run that up the groove, and attach yo...

Re: Forward chainplate above head sawn-off, problems?

Looks like no one is keen to reply, so my say would be I don't like it. The stay it holds down is the Cap shroud which is the most important one of the stays on the side deck, and I'm sure Albin thought long and hard before fitting that big lump of iron in there. Maybe an eyebolt in the centre and s...

Thanks Bob, I shall ignore it. Surprisingly I have enough to do.

Re: Inner forestay deck attachment and support.

Hi,
Just wondering.

Where is your water tank? have you moved it, or just the filler?

And what are the eye bolts for at each side of the foredeck?

Thanks for the insights into your boat. Always interesting.

Re: Mast Refit (part 4)

Every time I see pictures of things on your boat, I see other little things that look neat. I'm trying to fit some decent speakers, without making holes in bulkheads etc. I got some 6x9 enclosures, but they look way too bulky. I think I could maybe fit the speakers like you have done. Have you one e...

Re: Little?

You are something of a superstar.

I took 2 adult daughters, 1 grandson aged 6 to the Scillies. It was brilliant but they nearly drove me to take a long walk off a short boat.

Re: Little?

Hi, Welcome to the forum. The Ballad is a lovely boat, and has few vices. I'm sure if you are happy with the size you will grow to love it. I find it great for 2 people, but any more soon gets crowded. As long as you have read through the forum you will have seen the regular problems that have been ...
